Gain or lose

Came across a really interesting debate recently.

When you get full and there are still some delicious food left in the plate, what will you do? I used to try to finish them all since that is just a few bites and I should not waste food.

However, getting full itself may already indicate that I have consumed more than my body needs, let alone more bites. Indeed, I didn’t waste food. But the overload of food turns into fat and I have to spend additional time, money and workout to burn this fat caused by not wasting food. What on earth is benefit from the additional bites?
