Many times, new technologies are not necessarily to be completely new inventions, they are new and better materialization of existing thoughts, such as Alipay and the block-chain technology.
Alipay eased the worries between small businesses and buyers, which are completely strangers to each other. That role as a bridge has long history but was digitized by Alipay. Similarly, decentralized management of information flow or money flow also asked for the invention of block-chain.
